Looking for a solid half-day fishing trip that won't break the bank or leave you feeling rushed? Our private inshore charters out of Port Canaveral are perfect for anyone wanting to get on the water without the hassle. Whether you're a complete beginner or just want to enjoy some relaxed fishing with the family, we've got you covered with morning departures at 7 AM or afternoon trips starting at noon. No crowds, no rushing - just you and up to three of your favorite fishing buddies with a captain who knows these waters like the back of his hand.
Port Canaveral's inshore waters are some of the most productive and accessible fishing grounds on Florida's east coast. We'll be working the flats, mangrove shorelines, and grass beds where the fish love to hang out. The beauty of inshore fishing here is the variety - one cast you might hook into a feisty redfish, the next could be a beautiful speckled trout. The water stays relatively calm compared to offshore trips, making it perfect for families with kids or anyone who gets a little queasy in rough seas. Your captain will position the boat based on tide, wind, and what's been biting lately. Some days we're sight fishing in skinny water, other days we're anchored up letting the current bring the fish to us.
All your gear is provided, so don't stress about bringing anything except sunscreen and snacks. We typically run light to medium spinning tackle with live bait like shrimp, pinfish, or mud minnows - whatever the fish are wanting that day. Artificial lures are always an option too, especially soft plastics and spoons that work great in these grass flats. Your captain will show you the right techniques whether you're bouncing jigs along the bottom for flounder or working topwater plugs over shallow grass beds at sunrise. The key to successful inshore fishing here is reading the water and understanding how these fish move with the tides. We'll teach you to spot the signs - nervous baitfish, swirls in the water, birds diving - that tell you where the action is.
Redfish are hands-down the most popular target for our inshore trips, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers typically run 18-27 inches in our local waters and fight like they're twice their size. Fall and spring are prime time when they're schooled up in the shallows, but honestly, we catch them year-round. What makes reds so special is their attitude - they'll crush a bait with authority and then bulldoze their way through the grass trying to break you off. Speckled trout are another customer favorite, especially during the cooler months from October through March. These beautiful fish are excellent eating and provide fantastic light-tackle action. They're a bit more finicky than reds, often requiring a subtle presentation and steady retrieve. The bigger "gator" trout over 20 inches are trophy fish that'll have you grinning ear to ear. Black drum are the sleepers of the inshore game - these bottom dwellers can surprise you with their size and strength. We see them most often around oyster bars and structure, where they root around for crabs and shellfish. They might not be the prettiest fish, but a big drum will give you a workout and they're surprisingly good on the table when prepared right.
Half-day trips are perfect for testing the waters if you've never been inshore fishing before, or when you want to get out without committing to a full day. The morning trips are fantastic for beating the heat and catching the early bite, while afternoon departures let you sleep in and still get quality fishing time. With fuel included and no surprise fees, you know exactly what you're paying upfront. Port Canaveral's inshore fishery is productive year-round, but every season has its highlights. Book your private charter and discover why so many anglers consider these waters some of the best inshore fishing on Florida's Space Coast. Whether you're looking to bend some rods, put dinner on the table, or just enjoy a few hours away from the daily grind, we'll make sure you have a great time on the water.
